04/23/2008 So I just had the best day ever! Sunday was an extraordinary day. I was able to get tickets to see Pope Benedict XVI give mass at Yankee Stadium and then straight from there, go down to NJ to see Sevendust. Going to Yankee Stadium on any other day isn't all that difficult via the subway. Yeah, there are crowds around from all the fans heading to the game, but it's not bad. This time, Yankee Stadium was insane. It took an hour and a half to get thru security, then we had to wait in line for the bathroom, then 2 more lines to buy merchandise and then another hour to wait for food. By the time we got to the counter to order lunch, they were sold outta food. Yankee Stadium was not prepared properly, so poo poo on them. That's why I'm a Met fan! haha... But to be in a space of almost 60,000 people who all shared the same love of God and cheered on the pope, was truly invigorating. It only made me love my faith even more. From there, I went to see Sevendust. I know, quite the opposite from the pope, but I do love the band too. Got to head backstage to meet with Lajon and Clint for an interview. Jose from Hard Attack was also with me and we all had some drinks and hung out! It was great to see the guys and see Clint back in the band. Plus, LJ told me he's gotta a crush on me, so that was a nice ego boost! :) After the interview, Jose & his wife Melissa and myself were hangin at the bar, waiting for the band to go on & I actually got choked up a little because I just felt so freakin awesome! It was a great day that I was able to combine 2 of my favorite things: my love for my faith and for music! 04/19/2008 I was recently asked to be on a podcast, Anvil and the Hammer. The hosts, Brandon & Wayne asked me to be on to talk about Christian rock music and Sirius Satellite radio. Cool experience and thanks to the guys for having me on. You can find it on iTunes by searching for Anvil and the Hammer or try clicking on this link. http://podcast.anvilandthehammer.com Kayla 03/20/2008 So I am officially on vacation and have managed to drink too much and got myself burnt! ;) Yeah, a little too much sun, but I'm ok, it'll be an awesome tan in like a day! lol... I'm having fun and taking pictures so they'll be up on my myspace page soon. Later... Kayla 01/28/2008 Hey All! Hope you had a great weekend. CHecked in on the last survey and most of you are in favor of Tom Petty being the half time performance., about 53% of you actually. So thanks for the vote and be sure to pick your team for the new survey that's up. Keep the rockin' out! Go Blue! Kayla 01/03/2008 HAPPY NEW YEARS! It's gonna be an kickass 2008 and I thank you for being apart of the Sirius family so we can enjoy it together. I'm still hungover, so this is all ya get. hehe. Kayla 12/23/2007 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I hope you have a wonderful holiday, some time off and some relaxing time with family and friends. It's been a bumby road this past year, but I'm excited for a new year, a new start. And even more, it's exciting to see how Sirius will grow into an even bigger family in '08. I wish the troops well as they are far from home and loved ones. You're sacrifice is so much appreciated especially at this time of year. You are our heros! Thank s to all of you for being loyal listeners and fans of rock! We're gonna have a great 2008! Kayla 11/21/2007 HAPPY THANKSGIVING! There is so much to be grateful for at this time, like family/friends, health, a job & definitely being apart of this Sirius family. Tomorrow marks one month since I lost Wolfie & even though I'm still struggling with it, I am sooo grateful for the time I had with him. He filled my life with joy! So I am thankful even for difficult times as they make me stronger. Holidays can be tough on alot of people for different reasons, but remember to find one thing and at least focus on that . Many troops cannot be home for this Thanksgiving either, and my prayers are with them all and their families. I know their dedication & service is just another thing I am thankful for. Enjoy your holiday, give people you love a hug or tell someone you love them. I love my Sirius family! :) Be safe while you travel. Kayla 11/09/2007 Well hello once again. I first want to say thank you again for the overwhelming amount of emails that you have sent me regading Wolfie's death. I have been so touched by everyone's kinds words. It has been a difficult time but each day will get better. If you haven't read it, his story is the entry below this one. Also, more importantly, I send out all my prayers and thoughts this weekend to the veterns who have sacrificed so much for this country. There are many people in this country who are grateful & you do not go unnoticed. And as we remember the vets maybe check out this website that Drowning Pool has been behind, ThisIsForTheSoldiers To all the troops who continue to fight for freedom and for what is just, I thank you as well. You too will remain in my prayers this weekend. Kayla 10/24/2007 Wolfie was the best thing in my life. There is nothing like having a loyal lovable pet. I knew him as a puppy but didn't take over as his owner until he was a year old. I remember moving to NJ, had a brand new apartment, borrowed my old car that my parents were still keeping to drive to Queens to pick him up. He got sick in the car & thought, "Ok, this is gonna be interesting." But I got home and took my new puppy out for a walk to explore my new town. From the moment I had him, he clung to me like a little Mama's boy. He became my "little man" and he knew that I was his mom now and I was going to take care of him. From that first night together, Wolfie has slept next to me, sometimes sleeping on a pillow like a person or right up against my leg. He has experienced my life with me, all the ups and downs that I've been through, he was such a good dog, going wherever I took him. One thing I loved, was that Wolfie was picky about who he gave kisses to. I got kisses all the time, he'd kiss me & I'd kiss his snout back. Didn't happen for too many people. :) He never took to other dogs that much, kinda ignored most of them, but he did love people. If you started petting him, you became his new best friend. He'd even take his paw & nudge ya for more if you stopped. He followed my neices around just waiting for them to drop some food, he would run like crazy through the freshly fallen snow & bury his nose in it. Wolfie would speak when you asked him to and even when you didn't. You could even whisper the word "cookie" and he knew what you said. He was truly a blessing in my life. After a year of trying to figure out what was bothering his leg, I found out in the spring it was cancer. I told myself that I will keep him happy and comfortable as best as I could, and when he showed signs of pain I would rethink my course of action. In July, his leg got really bad but he was still so happy, acting like a pup, so I decided to amputate his leg. As hard as it was to watch him heal, we rehabilitated & he recovered nicely. Another tumor grew & I had that removed as well. But by the time the 3rd one came, I just didn't want to put him through another surgery. Through it all he was so good, letting me do the things I needed for him even if he didn't like it. He would look at me with those eyes, saying, "I know mom ya gotta do it." Overall, he continued to be happy & healthy, but this weekend he couldn't fight anymore. I mean, he had a good life, so why leave it? But I stuck with my plan that as soon as he showed signs of pain, I would rethink the situation. I had the weekend with him & he stayed by my side while sick, just like a child wants their mom when sick. I don't have children, I hope I will some day soon. Wolfie was my child. Just like any parent, I sacrificed, loved & disciplined my child and I was proud of him. I said goodbye to Wolfie on Monday watching him take his last breath. He fell softly to sleep. I kissed his face til I just couldn't do it anymore. He will always be with me. Kayla. PS: I added new pictures of Wolfie & bands in the Photo Album section. 10/17/2007 So, it's been awhile but I'm finally getting on top of all these websites. Managed to update my myspace page and get you some new pictures of bands that have come in. I managed to make it thru my audition on Martha Stewart Living Radio. Having never done talk radio before, it was definitely a challenge but enjoyable too. I didn't get the gig, so for anyone who thought I might leave Octane, have no fear, it's not happening. I don't want to leave Octane, you are too important to me. Saw Alter Bridge last night and had a blast. They are so good live, a very solid band! THey'll be in for Elements in the coming weeks, so keep it locked to Octane fo sure! Kayla Read More |
